Okay, here's a question. How the heck do I get Photoshop to do what I tell it to do, color-wise?
I'm in CMYK color space. I choose a color using th CMYK picker, let's say 100% Cyan, 65% Magenta and 15% Black. I fill an area with this color and what happens? It fills with 98C 75M 35Y. What the heck!?
My only workaround is to manually go into each of the channels and fill with the correct percentage. There's got to be a better way. I don't need Photoshop "fixing" my colors from CMYK to CMYK.
What am I doing wrong? I know it has to do with profiles and CMYK setup, but how do I simply turn this off, and still have the monitor simulate coated 4c offset output?

I tried exactly what you described and the only time that the eyedropper reported anything other than the color I chose was when I had the incorrect Mode chosen for that specific image. When I filled an RGB document with CMYK colors, it showed up wrong. When I filled a CYMK document with CMYK colors, it was fine.
Are you trying to find a way to insert CMYK colors accurately into RGB documents?

Are you filling that area of color on a layer that interacts with a layer underneath it? e.g. The layer you are filling "multiplies" the layer underneath.

Yeah, there are a lot of variables here...but the mode you choose in the layers palette could make a difference. And the arrangement of layers you have in your document might be hindering this process. Have you turned off all but the affected layers? Hmmmmm.

Nope. The layers do not have any effect. This happens even when I am using the opaque background layer, with no layers on top. I am using PS 5.0.2. As I recall, this was an issue with PS 5 which might have been fixed in 5.5.
My colors are affected by the CMYK setup. I could turn off color calibration, but how do I make sure the monitor is calibrated for soft-proofing from PS?
