If you look under the Apple stores "special deals", they list the eMac currently available as "Previous Generation", and it has these specs:

eMac 1GHzG4/256MB/80GB/SuperDrive/E/56K"

which is the same as the one for sale right now!

Does anyone know if this is preperation for a new eMac TBA on the 6th?

Whilst I wish it were the case that we are about to see shiny new eMacs, I think it is more likely the case that Apple considered the price drop back in October as a defining point between the eMacs before and after. So, the one currently under special deals is probably the same as the current shipping ones, only it was originally meant to sell for a whole bunch more.

These machines are the ones that were made before the price drop in October. The only difference between these eMacs and the current ones being sold are that they come with Jaguar instead of Panther.

also look to see whether they are airport or airport extreme, whether or not bluetooth is an option, and what sort of RAM they take, pc133 or DDR pc2100/2700.
If this post is in the Lounge forum, it is likely to be my own opinion, and not representative of the position of MacNN.com.

The "previous generation" superdrive eMac uses the same hardware as the current one, so it would be airport extreme ready, external bluetooth only, and pc133 RAM.
