i've posted here before about my energy saver preference pane;
it keeps reverting to "reduced" performance.

after running every software trick (permissions, deleting files, test user, techtool pro, diskwarrior, only apple ram ETC ETC)

i did an erase & install of 10.3.2, and...same problem.

one note:
i have a message in my energy saver pref pane:

profile_message

so, went to the "genius" bar (ha!) and no help; plus, no one knew what this message means.

at apple's suggestion, am zero'ing my drive & installing panther again.
if no go...back to apple for fixing!

no one at apple recognizes that message. anyone ever see this??

you again (!) thanx, good info.

meanwhile,
just zero'd my drive, installed 10.3.2; energy saver worked!
10.3.5, same, so...

whatever was causing the problem seems to be gone.

that link was useful, tho...time to bookmark.

for me, an ugly fix to to an ugly problem.
now, time to start reinstalling apps, configuring, etc.

aargh!
