Using Samsung's proprietary up-scaling engine, the S9 can convert HD or Full HD video to the UHD resolution, while Samsung's own Precision Black Pro technology to provide a high contrast ratio and dimming controls. Audio consists of a 3-way 2.2-channel setup providing 120-watts of power, which is claimed to provide an audio experience six times better than normal TV sets provide.

The same Smart TV features as the rest of Samsung's 2013 HDTV range are also present in the S9.
