Next Windows Phone version due in holidays, says job posting
Microsoft has confirmed it is looking to release an update to Windows Phone by the end of the year, via an advertisement for a Windows Phone software developer position. A job posting from the software giant states that it is "getting ready for our next release targeting the holiday of this year," with the promise of "killer devices and delightful user experiences".
Though not mentioning it directly, talk of an update later this year could relate to earlier job postings for developers, mentioning an annual-refresh called Windows Blue. Believed to be a paid-for yearly update to the operating systems, Windows Blue would apparently be available on both desktop versions of Windows, as well as Windows Phone.
The eventual update could contain a number of improvements when it is released in eight to nine months time, according to WMPU. Features such as 1080p display support may have to wait for the larger Windows Blue or WP8.5 update instead of the smaller GDR2 and GDR3 updates expected to be released beforehand.
