New rumor has iPhone 5S in August, new iPads in April
Apple is aiming to ship the iPhone 5S this summer, and new iPads possibly as soon as this April, according to iMore sources. The 5S is said to have the same essential design as the iPhone 5, but with a better processor and an upgraded camera, much in the same way the 4S was an improvement over the 4. Apple is allegedly aiming at an August launch, although that would fall outside the June/July window the company once used, and the fall timetable the 4S and 5 went by.

The sources also claim that Apple is seriously considering launching the fifth-generation 9.7-inch iPad and/or a second-generation iPad mini in April. The fourth-gen iPad and first-gen Mini were released just last November, which in turn came only months after the third-gen iPad's March 2012 debut. Updating iPads now would make for one of Apple's fastest-ever turnarounds; supposed fifth-gen iPad cases have already emerged, though, and the fourth-gen was an extremely minor update, only upgrading the processor and LTE compatibility while switching to a Lightning connector.

iMore suggests that if the Mini does get an upgrade this April, a Retina display "still doesn't sound imminent." It's unclear what Apple could change then, although it might be able to upgrade the processor and/or other internal components.

The iPhone 5S claim challenges speculation by KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who argues that two new iPhones will ship in June, including a low-cost model designed to make the iPhone more realistic in countries like China.
