UK court rules Apple isn't violating Samsung 3G patent
A judge in a London court has ruled against a Samsung claim that Apple is violating a standards-essential 3G data patent. "We are disappointed by the court's decision," <a href="http://macnn.com/rd/280543==http://www.zdnet.com/apple-scores-another-patent-win-against-samsung-with-uk-court-ruling-7000012258/" rel='nofollow'>says</a> a Samsung spokeswoman in an official statement. "Upon a thorough review of the judgment, we will decide whether to file an appeal. For decades, we have heavily invested in pioneering the development of technological innovations in the mobile industry, which have been constantly reflected in our products."<br />

Samsung has been looking to claim royalties of nearly 2.5 percent on 3G-capable Apple devices, but has been regularly defeated in the claims it has pursued. The company has so far lost 25 assertions on standards-essential patents and only won three -- two of them in its home country of South Korea. Apple and Samsung are pursuing a number of lawsuits against each other worldwide; aside from the UK and Korea, cases have reached courts in the US, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and the Netherlands.

Yeah, sure.
"For decades, we have heavily invested in pioneering the development of technological innovations in the mobile industry, which have been constantly reflected in our products."

Not spoken: "or at least, we used to, but we stopped sometime around 2000. That's why we only release ripoffs of Apple's products these days, rather than anything original."

The question is ....
Will the judge force Samsung to put a prominent ad in the UK papers, admitting that Apple hadn't copied their "innovations" ??? They requested Apple to do it for Samsung; why wouldn't go the other way? ..... oh yeah ... I read somewhere that Samsung had bought the UK justices !!! I wonder for how much?
