Briefly: Marvel offers free digital issues, Philips Hue SDK
Yesterday at SXSW, <a href="http://macnn.com/rd/280783==http://marvel.com/news/story/20260/sxsw_2013_marvel_1" rel='nofollow'>Marvel Comics announced a new promotion</a> that offers more than 700 first issues from the company's history at no charge. The free comics can be downloaded from within the <a href="http://macnn.com/rd/280784==https://itunes.apple.com/ca/app/marvel-comics/id350027738?mt=8" rel='nofollow'>Marvel</a> and <a href="http://macnn.com/rd/280785==https://itunes.apple.com/en/app/comics/id303491945?mt=8" rel='nofollow'>Comixology</a> iOS apps, as well as from the web based <a href="http://macnn.com/rd/280786==http://comicstore.marvel.com" rel='nofollow'>Marvel Digital Comics Shop</a>. The promotion covers a mix of recent comics such as Uncanny Avengers, Civil War, and Avengers VS. X-Men, alongside classic issues like Amazing Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, and Captain America. Marvel encourages customers to download as many of the free issues as they can before the promotion ends at 11pm EST on March 12.<br />
<strong>Philips launches Hue developer tools</strong>
Philips has launched a new <a href="http://macnn.com/rd/280757==http://developers.meethue.com" rel='nofollow'>software developer program</a> for its Hue light bulbs that allows anyone to create mobile apps for controlling the web-enabled LED home lighting system. Originally <a href="http://macnn.com/rd/280758==http://www.macnn.com/articles/12/10/29/philips.outs.hue.system.with.led.lightbulbs.wi.fi. control/" rel='nofollow'>launched in October</a> with a dedicated iOS app, the Hue system allows users to set lighting schedules, as well as change the color output of the bulb. The Hue developer program consists of a range of Open APIs and an iOS SDK, as well as various guides that can help developers start programming with Hue. In addition, Philips has also set up a <a href="http://macnn.com/rd/280759==http://www.everyhue.com" rel='nofollow'>developer forum</a> where customers can connect with each other and find answers to various support questions.
