Google Now flags appear in recent Chromium build
Google appears to be edging closer to including <a href="http://macnn.com/rd/280837==http://www.electronista.com/articles/13/02/12/widget.brings.miniature.google.now.cards.to.home.s creen/" rel='nofollow'>Google Now</a> into Chrome itself. Flags associated with the service have been spotted in chrome://flags in the latest Chromium build, suggesting that the search giant may bring Google Now to Chrome OS computers and desktops carrying the Chrome browser in the near future. <br />

Francois Beaufort, a developer that has <a href="http://macnn.com/rd/280838==http://www.electronista.com/articles/12/12/08/code.posting.shows.google.now.coming.to.chrome/" rel='nofollow' target="_self" title="">previously noted</a> a non-functional version of the same service on the Chromium developer site, <a href="http://macnn.com/rd/280839==https://plus.google.com/100132233764003563318/posts/idTrXBfoKN3" rel='nofollow' target="_self" title="">claims</a> that the new code appearing in the latest Chromium build is all but finalized, as the Google Now server URL is not configured. A page on the Chromium Code Reviews <a href="http://macnn.com/rd/280840==https://codereview.chromium.org/12508004/" rel='nofollow'>site</a> also confirms the existence of the flags, noting that the "Google Now component extension" can be tested out by manually setting the URL.

Adding Google Now to desktop computers would potentially allow users to receive notifications for appointments and important updates in their browser, in a similar manner to how it appears on Android smartphones.
