Nokia's Elop ducks Lumia 928 questions, throws iPhone
Nokia chief Stephen Elop wanted to talk about the company's new low-cost Lumia handsets, but he wound up tossing about competitor devices and dodging questions about premium Lumia models. Appearing on commercial TV station MTV3 in Finland, Elop encountered persistent questioning from Hjallis Harkimo, the show's host. Harkimo wanted to know when a rumored premium Lumia model - the Lumia 928 - would be coming out, and he wouldn't take no for an answer.

"I don't know," Elop responded with a smile, "because we haven't announced a Lumia 928."

Harkimo pressed Elop on whether Nokia would be releasing a premium model. The Lumia 928, unlike the Lumia 620 model Elop wanted to show off, is said to feature an aluminum casing, a departure from the polycarbonate material that Nokia has relied upon for some time.

Harkimo eventually pulled out an iPhone, contrasting its design and materials with the Lumia standard.

"I have an iPhone," he said, holding it up to Elop. "I don't want to have an iPhone."

Elop then took the handset from Harkimo. Tossing the device to the floor, he proclaimed, "There, it's gone."

Following up with Harkimo on Friday, Finnish blog Tietoviikko confirmed that the host's iPhone suffered no damage from being tossed. Harkimo says he has yet to receive a Nokia phone to replace the iPhone, which Elop promised him during the interview.

The Lumia line has sold relatively well for Nokia since its release, moving 4.4 million units in the most recent quarter and giving investors some hope that the company may be able to execute a turnaround. A move toward a premium, aluminum-cased handset could help the company compete against the likes of Apple.
The host of the show seemed like a jackass. I think Elop acted a lot calmer than most people would.

Some people thought it was staged, some thought a tantrum ocurred but I finally got around to actually watching it.

My impression is, nothing much to see. The host was on the pushy side, the phone tossing, a bit on the silly side... I think the guy is a Nokia fan, he'd like a '928'. Personally I can't imagine the 928 being any great shakes, just another little rev. for the slow selling Nokia Windows Phone line.

What kind of jackass would throw a phone?
Seriously, who would take another guy's phone and throw it like that? Steven Elop needs to go.
