T-Mobile contract-free plans go live for new customers
T-Mobile has made its new "UnCarrier" contract-free prices official in the United States. The new plans, doing away with the two-year contracts and generally streamlining prices for all future customers, has been unveiled just days before the carrier was due to host a special event, where it is still expected to turn on its 4G LTE network.

The new plans start from $50 per month for one phone, which comes complete with unlimited calls, unlimited texts, and 500MB of tethering-enabled data allowance. Extending it to 2GB of data costs an extra $10, then a further $10 for every 2GB extra, with usage that goes past the allowance being throttled down to 2G speeds.

Though not launched yet, an option to include unlimited data across 4G is also available, making the total plan cost $70 per month. While it is billed as unlimited, it only includes a 500MB limit for the Smartphone Mobile Hotspot service, however this can be extended at an extra charge.
The new plan prices, now live, will not be the same as those offered through resellers, such as Best Buy. An earlier leak for plans through retailers shows all prices effectively increased by $10, but still offering the same services.
