Honeywell debuts color-customizable Wi-Fi Smart Thermostat
Honeywell today announced the Wi-Fi Smart Thermostat, a networked thermostat that allows design-focused homeowners to customize the display to match or accent existing home decor. In addition, the Honeywell thermostat offers Wi-Fi connectivity that allows consumers to regulate energy usage and home comfort through a smartphone app.

Featuring a touchscreen display for local input, the Wi-Fi Smart Thermostat is equipped with mobile and email alerts notifying homeowners when the home is too hot or cold, the humidity level is too high or too low, when the filter needs to be changed, or if the home loses power.

Honeywell's Smart Response technology enables the thermostat to learn how long it takes to heat and cool a home to ensure it is always at the set temperature. The Instant Away feature allows homeowners to balance comfort and energy savings -- users input an estimated return time into the thermostat, and the device will control the environment to maximize energy savings and ensure a comfortable environment upon return.

The Wi-Fi Smart Thermostat from Honeywell will be available at home improvement centers across the United States and Canada beginning in May, at a suggested retail price of $249.
the woman turns the heat up on the couch, and then the guy turns the heat down from the cab...

and how many pages and tabs and controls does this thing have? it doesn't look all that user friendly and/or intuitive.

Win 98 version of Nest
Wow- it's been a year and a half since Nest launched- and now Honeywell realizes that they are toast. Ohhhh- I can change the desktop color. Wow.

Yup, Nest copy
Bad copy of Nest. Like MS in mobile: way late and incompetent.

Much tool late
They had the opportunity to make a product like this years ago, along comes 4 Apple engineers and made the Nest. They have 3 years of marketing ahead of Honeywell. They also have a number of patents that they will protect, so Honeywell better lookout, Apple boys now how to protect there IP, the had a good teacher. The only leg up the Honeywell has it also makes the electronics in there HVAC systems their smart system could take advantage of that fact. This could make there system ore powerful .

Better than Nest
for me anyway. I don't believe Nest can manage my thermostat better than I can - it's a little too automatic for me. I'd rather have something I can program and I know what it's going to do and when. Now if this thing will let me program the fan independent of the a/c or furnace, then I'll buy it. For some reason, this feature has eluded thermostat manufacturers.

You need to read first
hayesk , Did you read up on the Nest? They covered all the areas that indeed allow you to be in control. I sure they did their homework. They are not taking away control but are giving you more. I sure if you read up on how it works you will understand this.
