Acer ships Aspire P3 Windows 8 tablet, Aspire V5, V7 notebooks
Aside from unveiling the Aspire R7 with the "Ezel" hinge, Acer also revealed a number of other mobile computing options at its media event. The Aspire P3 is billed as a slate computer that can convert to a notebook with its keyboard case, while the Aspire V5 and V7 notebooks are said to bring thinner and lighter designs to the company's notebook ranges.

The Aspire P3 is primarily a Windows 8 tablet by design, containing a Core i3 or I5 processor running behind its 11.6-inch 1280x720 screen. Weighing in at just over 3 pounds, the Aspire P3 has the choice of 60GB or 120GB SSDs for storage, 5-megapixel rear camera, and a front-facing webcam capable of 720p HD video capture. It is also supplied with a keyboard cover which allows the Aspire P3 to rest just above the key line, with the end result being the tablet suddenly resembling the Microsoft Surface. Full-sized USB and mini-HDMI ports are located on the sides.

The more-conventional Aspire V5 and V7 notebooks offer a choice of 14 and 15.6-inch displays, along with an 11.6-inch option for the V5, giving users the option of a 1080p IPS screen or a 1366x769 panel. Both ranges include a variety of dual and quad-core processors from AMD and Intel depending on configuration, along with GeForce GT7XXM and Radeon HD8750 graphics. It is claimed that the new notebooks are 9-percent thinner than previous models, with the V5 11.6-inch version being squeezed down to three pounds and less than an inch thick. The V7 models add a "silky touch finish" to the bottom, newer Intel processors, larger SSD options, WiDi support, and Acer Theft Shield.
The Aspire P3 is on sale now starting from $800, while the V-series of notebook will be available at the end of May from $499.
