Nokia launches Lumia 928 smartphone, heading to Verizon May 14th
Nokia has formally unveiled the Lumia 928, headed to Verizon as a network-exclusive. The smartphone, previously leaked through a billboard and an advertisement in Vanity Fair, has been revealed before its expected launch event in London on May 14th, with the phone manufacturer keen to continue promoting its 8.7-megapixel PureView camera with Carl Zeiss lens and Xenon flash with another test video.
The 4.5-inch OLED display runs at 1280x768, with a pixel density of 334ppi. Powering the Lumia 928 is a dual-core Qualcomm processor running at 1.5GHz with 1GB of RAM, with 32GB of storage and 7GB of SkyDrive cloud storage, courtesy of Windows Phone 8. Its front camera is capable of taking 1.2-megapixel images and 720pp video, audio is captured by three high-audio-amplitude-capture (HAAC) microphones, and power comes from its 2000mAh battery. Wireless charging, 4G connectivity and NFC are also included, along with a suite of Lumia apps and a $25 credit for Windows Phone apps.

The latest camera-testing video, following on from the rollercoaster comparison with the iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S III, attaches the Lumia 928 to a model helicopter, in order to take various sweeping shots of nature. Despite riding on a helicopter with multiple rotors, the Lumia 928 appears to cope with the vibration well, allowing Nokia to demonstrate its image stabilization technology.

The Lumia 928 will be reaching Verizon on May 16th, and will cost $99 on a two-year contract with a $50 mail-in rebate.
