AT&T Wireless adds $0.61 per month administrative fee to all users
<a href="" rel='nofollow'>AT&T Wireless</a> has started billing customers $0.61 per month as a mobility "administrative fee." The new charge came into effect May 1, and has been applied to all consumer bills, in addition to business accounts where the user pays the amount due. The new fee will add nearly $500 million to AT&T's coffers in a year.<br />

AT&T claims the fee is "consistent with similar fees charged by other carriers" and will "cover certain expenses, such as interconnection and cell site rents and maintenance." Other carriers have similar charges. Sprint charges nearly $1.00 per line, with Verizon just above AT&T at around $0.77 per user. T-Mobile bundles administrative fees in a regulatory charge line item, so no information on the carrier's charge is available.

A new fee? That sounds like a contract violation and gives everyone the opportunity to switch without paying any cancellation fee. F*ck you, AT&T.

Stupid AT&T! Its called "cost of doing business"! Instead of raising their advertised prices, they are "hiding" it from potential customers by adding this fee which they don't need to tell anyone about until after they sign up.

How is this legal? It just seems that they can add fees as they see appropriate (or as they need) and there is nothing that the consumers can do about it.

Maybe if cellular companies actually cared about their service they wouldn't have to bill their customers to call India for tech support.
