Samsung Galaxy Mega, Galaxy S4 Mini goes on sale in UK on Three
British phone network Three has announced it has started selling the Samsung Galaxy Mega and the Galaxy S4 Mini. Going on sale online today and in stores tomorrow, the two Samsung devices appear on Three at the same time as the carrier makes significant changes to the way it charges for its prepaid phone service.

The 6.3-inch version of the Galaxy Mega has a 1280x720-resolution Super AMOLED display, backed by a 1.7GHz dual-core processor with 1.5GB of RAM. On the back is an 8-megapixel camera with a 1.9-megapixel front-facing version, while the 8GB of storage is supplemented by a 4GB microSD card. Offering a 3,200mAh battery with up to 700 hours of standby time, the Galaxy Mega also has support for Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS + GLONASS, NFC, and MHL, as well as the option to connect to the carrier's 4G LTE network, once Three launches it. The Galaxy Mega is being sold for £450 ($685) up-front, or free on a two year £33 ($50) monthly plan.
The Galaxy S4 Mini has a smaller 4.3-inch qHD Super AMOLED screen, and retains much of the same specifications as the Galaxy Mega. A dual-core 1.7GHz processor, 1.5GB of RAM, 8GB of storage, a rear 8-megapixel camera and the same connectivity options are available in the handset, though it has a smaller 1,900mAh battery. Three are selling the Galaxy S4 Mini for £350 ($530) or at no charge as part of a £26 ($40) two-year contract.

The new Pay As You Go system has been simplified to avoid confusion of customers. The carrier now offers a flat rate of 3 pence per minute ($0.05) for outbound calls, 2 pence ($0.03) per sent text, and a penny ($0.02) per megabyte of data usage, regardless of the time of day or day of the week. Three is also taking the step in switching its existing prepaid customers to the new cheaper tariff, rather than keeping it just for new users, and will no longer cancel prepaid accounts unless it is not used for a six-month period.
