Toshiba today announced that it will launch a new series of SD memory cards offering the world's fastest data write speed for the format. Exceria cards compliant with UHS-II will be available in two versions. The Exceria Pro series will offer photographers a data write speed of 240MB per second, while the Exceria series will write at 120MB per second. The cards are the first in the company's line-up to integrate a newly-developed controller compliant with UHS-II, the ultra high-speed serial bus interface, to achieve significantly higher data transfer speeds than earlier UHS-I compliant cards.
The new product line launches in Japan in October. Capacities will range from 16 to 64GB. Pricing has yet to be revealed.
