Motorola sends invitations for New York Moto X launch on August 1
Motorola has begun to send invitations to members of the media for the launch of the Moto X, being held in New York City on August 1. In a change to the usual device launch, the invitation not only names the device outright, but it also appears to show both the black and white versions of the Moto X's casing.
Shown off by Google chairman Eric Schmidt at a media conference late last week, the Moto X is said to have a 1.7GHz dual-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, and a 10-megapixel rear camera, though some rumors suggest that it will have an element of internal customization.
Earlier today, the Google-owned phone manufacturer teased an image of an employee on a US-based production line constructing the smartphone. Documents claimed to be leaked from US Cellular put the launch of the Moto X on the carrier as August 26, though it is possible that the date may be slightly different for other carriers, as well as a more global release.
Google has a lot to prove with the Moto X launch. In recent financial results, Motorola earned the company $998 million in revenues, but made an operating loss of $342 million.
