ARM Q2 profits similar to Q1, 30-percent year-on-year improvement
ARM has made a marginal improvement to its revenues in recent months, according to the latest quarterly results. Revenues of $171.2 million ($264.3 million) for the second quarter are slightly higher than the £170.3 million ($263.9 million) in the previous, and represents a year-on-year increase of around 25 percent.

While the slightly higher revenues are good news, its quarter-to-quarter profits have dropped slightly, from £89.4 million ($136 million) to £86.6 million ($133 million), though this is still a 30-percent improvement on the £66.5 million ($102.2) earned in the same quarter last year.
During the quarter, ARM managed to sign 25 processor licenses, including five for Cortex-A chips and seven for Mali graphics processors. Shipments of ARM-based chips are now at 2.4 billion, up 20-percent year-on-year.
The only real upset in the quarterly report is that the company incurred £41.8 million ($64.2 million) in costs listed as "ARM's contribution to a full and final settlement of certain patent related litigation." The report does not mention the other parties involved in the legal action.
