Hyetis Crossbow $1,200 smartwatch revealed with 41MP camera
<a href="http://macnn.com/rd/291832==http://www.hyetis.com/" rel='nofollow'>Hyetis</a> has revealed a new Swiss-made smartwatch that the company will be opening up to pre-orders in the future. The Hyetis Crossbow boasts a 41-megapixel camera with a ring flash located on the top edge, contained in a titanium case with a sapphire crystal-fronted touchscreen, yet retains an automatic wound movement to keep time once the batteries run out. <br />
<br />
Able to connect to Android, iOS, and Windows Phone 8 devices, the Crossbow includes Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and NFC connection options, according <a href="http://macnn.com/rd/291827==http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/08/12/the-hyetis-crossbow-is-the-first-swiss-smartwatch-has-a-41mp-camera-and-costs-1200/" rel='nofollow'>to</a> <em>Android Police</em>. The timepiece will also be able to track its GPS position, ambient temperature, altitude, depth, and biometric information, though the company advises that this could change in final production models. <br />
<br />
While it is a limited release complete with a price of $1,200, it is not clear if there will be much of a market for the Crossbow, considering the existing <a href="http://macnn.com/rd/291828==http://www.macnn.com/articles/13/01/09/smart.watch.shown.at.ces/" rel='nofollow'>Pebble smartwatch</a> and <a href="http://macnn.com/rd/291829==http://www.electronista.com/articles/13/06/25/sony.smartwatch.2.can.pair.with.smartphone.using.o ne.touch.nfc/" rel='nofollow'>Sony Smartwatch 2</a>, and potential future smartwatches <a href="http://macnn.com/rd/291830==http://www.electronista.com/articles/13/07/04/name.is.trademarked.in.some.cases.already.associat ed.with.shipping.products/" rel='nofollow'>from Apple</a> as well as the <a href="http://macnn.com/rd/291831==http://www.electronista.com/articles/13/08/08/samsung.smartwatch.patent.turned.into.render/" rel='nofollow'>Samsung Gear</a>.

I might consider it if it actually had a crossbow. That's just blatant false advertising.

I find the 40+ MP sensor in this thing and that Nokia phone kind of offensive, since I know for a fact that the glass in several-hundred-dollar DSLR lenses is rarely capable of resolving even enough detail to fully take advantage of a 16MP APSC sensor. There's absolutely no way that a quarter-inch lens is doing anything useful with even a fraction of those 40 megapixels, so it's just pure marketing hype and file size bloat for no useful gain at all.

It also makes it butt ugly.
