Apple may have TV-related product coming as soon as November
Apple is preparing "some sort of television product" that could be arriving as soon as this November, according to M.G. Siegler. The venture capitalist and former tech industry reporter notes that it's not necessarily a long-rumored TV set, but says he has refrained from writing about it because of uncertainty about what the product is. The method of interaction may be a key selling point, though. "People have talked about voice, but I think that's out the window and there might be some new way to interact with whatever this thing is," he comments.

Analysts have suggested the possibility of a TV set for some time, but talk only became concrete when it was revealed that, shortly before his death, former Apple CEO Steve Jobs said he had "cracked" a TV interface. His replacement, Tim Cook, fueled speculation last year when he described TV as an "area of intense interest." There have also been sporadic third-party reports of TV plans, but those have quieted down in recent months, with rumors shifting towards iPhone, iPad, and iWatch projects.
Apple could simply be looking to continue improvements to the Apple TV set-top. While the box now supports 1080p, and an increasing range of services like ESPN and HBO, Apple may be feeling pressure to update the hardware in light of Google's Chromecast. At the moment the Chromecast only supports Chrome, YouTube, Netflix, and Google Play streams in 720p, but it also only costs $35, which has led to ongoing sellouts at Amazon, Best Buy, and Google. Apple acquired video recommendation service Matcha earlier this year however, which may suggest that Apple's plans stretch further back.

What if Apple decided to skip the whole TV set and just slap a projector on the side of the Apple TV box?

I'll believe it when I see it. How old are these TV rumors now?

I bet it's motion gestured control.... like the XBOX. And probably even better because the moment you sit down on your couch, it will turn on the system itself after it detects your motion.

I've got my fingers crossed for an iOS7 AppleTV SDK, open the damn thing to apps and games already.
