Budget $29 Nokia 108 unveiled with VGA camera, 31-hour standby
Nokia has launched another low-cost featurephone destined for emerging markets. Following the lead from its low-budget Nokia 105, the Nokia 108 and the Nokia 108 Dual SIM offer the typical basic phone features in a cheap case, except this time it includes a camera sensor and support for connecting with other devices over Bluetooth 3.0.
Running on just 4MB of RAM and requiring a microSD card for storage, the Nokia 108 has a rear-mounted 0.3-megapixel camera with 2x digital zoom that can record 320x240 video at 15fps. While it also boasts an MP3 player and a larger 1.8-inch 160x128-resolution display compared to the Nokia 105, it still retains much of what its $20 stablemate offers, such as a simplistic and tough build, an FM radio, a 31-day standby on battery that allows for 13.8 hours of talk time and 40.8 hours of music playback, and dual-band GSM connectivity.
Both the single and dual-SIM versions of the Nokia 108 will be shipping in the fourth quarter of this year, priced at $29, in a range of five colors.
