New iPhones get iOS 7.0.1 update; iOS 7 found using Multipath TCP
As anticipated, new buyers of the iPhone 5s and 5c are finding themselves prompted to download an iOS firmware update, v7.0.1, Apple officially states that the patch deals with "bug fixes and improvements," but it's believed to be focused on a problem involving the 5s' Touch ID sensor and iTunes purchases. It's unknown what if any changes the code makes for the 5c.

iOS 7 has meanwhile been discovered using a new networking protocol known as Multipath TCP, The information was uncovered by a Belgian computer science professor, Olivier Bonaventure, who monitored packet traces for an updated iPad. Multipath allows data to be transferred over multiple vectors simultaneously, such as Wi-Fi and 4G. The technology ensures that data takes the most efficient path, and that if one option fails, another will take over.
Bonaventure notes that while people won't see Multipath used in apps like Safari, it should affect ones like Siri, The standard could make some iCloud-based services more reliable.
