Sony reconsiders Asia-only PS Vita TV launch after 'strong response'
Sony is considering releasing its <a href="http://macnn.com/rd/294428==http://www.electronista.com/articles/13/09/09/sony.takes.on.apple.with.new.ps.vita.tv.launches.u pdated.ps.vita/" rel='nofollow'>PlayStation Vita TV</a> set-top box in the United States and European markets, following a "strong response" from gamers. The move <a href="http://macnn.com/rd/294429==http://www.electronista.com/articles/13/09/13/htc.one.x.set.to.get.android.422/" rel='nofollow'>effectively reverses</a> an earlier report, where an executive claimed the company was "not planning" to release the device further afield than markets close to Japan, such as China and South Korea. <br />

Masayasu Ito, senior vice president and division president of Business Division 1 at Sony Computer Entertainment, <a href="http://macnn.com/rd/294430==http://www.engadget.com/2013/09/20/vita-tv-outside-japan/" rel='nofollow' target="_self" title="">told</a> <em>Engadget</em> that it is now a possibility. "During the presentation yesterday, the European/American users showed a very strong response, more than we expected, and there has been a strong inquiry/request/demand that they want the product," said Ito, though he warns that Sony has to "watch the timing and watch the environment carefully" for such a release. <br />

<a href="http://macnn.com/rd/294425==http://www.electronista.com/articles/13/09/19/app.turns.smartphone.tablet.into.ps4.game.controll er/" rel='nofollow'>Yesterday's presentation</a> at the Tokyo Game Show saw Sony demonstrate how the Vita TV could be used in conjunction with a <a href="http://macnn.com/rd/294426==http://www.electronista.com/articles/13/02/20/console.based.on.x86.architecture/" rel='nofollow'>PlayStation 4</a>, by streaming gameplay to the Vita TV in another room and using a DualShock controller to play the game itself. It has also been suggested that, via the Sony-owned Gaikai game streaming service, it could in theory support gameplay of <a href="http://macnn.com/rd/294427==http://www.electronista.com/articles/13/09/12/sce.ceo.states.gaming.extender.technically.capable .of.cloud.game.streaming/" rel='nofollow'>PlayStation 3 titles</a>, something which the PlayStation 4 will also be capable of doing. <br />
