Android 4.4 'KitKat' screenshots leak out
Images of the next version of Google's Android mobile operating system have leaked out, courtesy of a 9to5 Google tipster. The screenshots of Android 4.4 'KitKat' were shown running on a soon to be superseded Nexus 4 and reveal a number of visual tweaks and enhancements. In particular, the images to make an appearance show a revised phone app interface with a 'flat' blue theme, while the messages app also appears to get a UI revision, but adopts a similarly flat green theme.

Interestingly, unlike the status bar in Android 4.3 'Jelly Bean' and earlier, the status bar in Android 4.4 looks to change its color to match the color theme of the app. The home screen looks to remain quite similar, with most of the icons remaining the same, however the messages app icon looks to be redesigned, again with the currently popular 'flat' design UI approach that was pioneered in mobile operating systems by Microsoft and has since been adopted by Apple, and now also Google seemingly.
Android 4.4 'KitKat' is widely expected to make its official debut on October 14 and is expected to arrive pre-loaded on to an LG-manufactured Google Nexus 5, which has also already been leaked. The Nexus 5 will be powered by a 32-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core CPU clocked at 2.3GHz and centers on a 5-inch display expected to have a 1080p resolution utilizing IPS technology.
