Google brings Street View cameras into CERN, Large Hadron Collider
Google has expanded its unique Street View imagery with new content from inside the European Organization for Nuclear Research (<A href="http://home.web.cern.ch/">CERN</a>) laboratories and the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). A team used a bike-mounted camera system, known as the "Street View Trike," to explore large parts of the LHC tunnel and the <A href="https://www.google.com/maps/preview#!data=!1m8!1m3!1d3!2d6.020804!3d46.251687! 2m2!1f331.23!2f93!4f75!2m4!1e1!2m2!1sE_gmTqm0tFwAA AQJODm60Q!2e0&fid=5">ALICE</a>, <A href="https://www.google.com/maps/preview#!data=!1m8!1m3!1d3!2d6.055071!3d46.235832! 2m2!1f192.55!2f98!4f75!2m4!1e1!2m2!1skWZ2TA53b9AAA AQJODkDDg!2e0&fid=5">ATLAS</a>, <A href="https://www.google.com/maps/preview#!data=!1m8!1m3!1d3!2d6.076324!3d46.309863! 2m2!1f82.59!2f110.64!4f75!2m4!1e1!2m2!1sKGf112kOlN IAAAQJODj8Mw!2e0&fid=5">CMS</a> and <a href="https://www.google.com/maps/preview#!data=!1m8!1m3!1d3!2d6.096386!3d46.241164! 2m2!1f21.03!2f86.56!4f75!2m5!1e1!2m3!1sMpJOB6fEjzw AAAQJODj1Eg!2e0!7e2&fid=5">LHCb</a> experiments. <br /><br />"We're delighted that CERN opened its doors to Google Maps Street View allowing anyone, anywhere in the world to take a peek into its laboratories, control centers and its myriad underground tunnels housing cutting-edge experiments," Google said in a blog <A href="http://googlepolicyeurope.blogspot.com/2013/09/street-view-arrives-at-cern.html">post</a>. "Street View also lets scientists working on the experiments, who may be on the other side of the world, explore the equipment they're using."<br />

The project already includes 6,000 points coordinated with GPS locations, though CERN notes that the project is ongoing and will expand with more views of experiments in the future.
