Report: Apple to hold iPad event on October 22
Sources with knowledge of Apple's plans have revealed that the company will soon send out press invitations for an event introducing the latest iPad models on <a href="http://macnn.com/rd/295811==http://allthingsd.com/20131008/apple-will-hold-fall-ipad-event-on-october-22/?mod=atd_homepage_carousel" rel='nofollow'>Tuesday, October 22</a>. The event is likely to be held at Apple's Town Hall Auditorium in Cupertino, given the short notice for the event, and will highlight the both the full-size iPad and iPad mini. Also planned for the event, according to the reports, will be the formal debut of the <a href="http://macnn.com/rd/295812==http://www.electronista.com/articles/13/09/27/scores.compare.to.previous.dual.six.core.mac.pro.b enchmarks/" rel='nofollow'>new Mac Pro</a> and <a href="http://macnn.com/rd/295813==http://www.macnn.com/articles/13/10/04/companys.new.icloud.keychain.to.be.included.in.fin al.release/" rel='nofollow'>OS X Mavericks</a>.<br />
<br />
The new full-size iPad is expected, thanks to a <a href="http://macnn.com/rd/295814==http://www.electronista.com/articles/13/08/19/shows.more.mini.similarities/" rel='nofollow'>series of part leaks</a>, to offer a dramatically thinner and lighter design than the previous generation, making it more like a "large iPad mini" in look and feel. It is also expected to run Apple's new A7 chip (or some variant thereof), and may well include the <a href="http://macnn.com/rd/295815==http://www.electronista.com/articles/13/10/07/part.bears.similarity.to.equivalent.iphone.5s.part/" rel='nofollow'>Touch ID fingerprint sensor</a> alongside an improved camera. According to <em>AllThingsD</em>, the next iPad mini will also run the A7 chip and is to be upgraded to a Retina-quality display, but otherwise keeps the same form factor as the current model.<br />
<br />
Apple could hold the event in the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, a facility it has used in the past for product introductions. However, it chose its own Town Hall auditorium for <a href="http://macnn.com/rd/295816==http://www.macnn.com/articles/13/09/09/banners.use.same.motif.as.press.invitation/" rel='nofollow'>the iPhone rollout</a>, and thus it seems likely that it will also handle the iPad debut there.<br />
