Jawbone launches Up24 Bluetooth fitness tracker, updated Up iOS app
Jawbone has updated its existing Up fitness tracker with a new wireless version. The Up24 is a wrist-based tracker that does the same job as the original Up, except that data is transferred over Bluetooth LE, rather than forcing the user to remove an end cap and to plug it into a smartphone's headphone socket for syncing.

Just as before, the Jawbone Up can be used to monitor activity and sleep, with tracked data passed through to a companion app for analysis. Covered with hypoallergenic, medical-grade rubber, the added Bluetooth communication reduces the battery life from 10 days down to 7 days from a single charge.

At the same time, Jawbone has updated the companion Up app for iOS. Up 3.0 adds a few more functions to the current app, including streaks and milestones for activity, new activity logs, and a "Today I Will" opt-in commitment system to remind wearers of goals and targets if they are failing to meet them. The sleep monitoring has been updated with "Sleep Recovery," with the app identifying potential times the wearer was asleep without putting the band into Sleep Mode, allowing users to correct it in the activity log, and to receive more details and suggestions for sleep.
Priced at $149, the Up24 is shipping now from the Jawbone website, with Apple and Best Buy stores stocking it from November 19th.
