Audioengine this week announced the release of its D3 Premium 24-bit digital-to-analog converter, an amplifier that plugs directly into a computer's USB port. The D3 sports both a USB connection and a headphone-out port, allowing it to bridge the gap between a computer or other device and a user's headphones. Audioengine says that the D3 streams bit-perfect native 24/96 HD audio, with users needing to install neither drivers nor software. It also allows users to directly control the volume of the output with their computer's own volume controls.
