Spotify gives Mac, Windows client a makeover, updates Android app
One week after rolling out a free music streaming service to tablets and smartphones, Spotify has started to roll out a visual upgrade to its apps. The Windows and Mac desktop clients have a darker and more modern appearance to them, along with less drastic changes to a number of pages, with the Android app also receiving some minor interface tweaks.
The desktop clients have larger text, rounded graphics, and a filter applied to album artwork and artist photographs, reports The Verge. Artist pages now show fewer tracks at first glance, while the Discover tab uses a grid motif. Track sharing and playback controls have also received a makeover. Though version 0.9.8 of the client is being provided to users on both Mac and Windows platforms at roughly the same time, the update is rolling out slowly, with no apparent way to force the app to upgrade.
The Android app introduces what the Google Play notes describe as a "shiny new look" for the front log-in screen and sign-up pages. Artist pages will now include image galleries and the number of times individual tracks by the artist are played. A number of bug fixes are also included in the update.
