Valve Software treated customers of its Steam game store to an unexpected holiday gift, by making <a href="" rel='nofollow'>Left 4 Dead 2</a> free to play. The team-based first-person-shooter for PC and Mac, which sees a group of survivors attempt to survive a zombie apocalypse, is free to claim through the online store until 10am PST on December 26th, according <a href="" rel='nofollow'>to</a> <em>PC Gamer</em>, after which it will revert to its usual price. <br />

<strong>Altek launches Cubic 'Lens Camera' in Taiwan</strong><br />

Altek has produced its own take on the <a href="" rel='nofollow'>Sony "lens camera"</a> by launching the <a href="" rel='nofollow'>Cubic</a> in Taiwan. Connecting over Wi-Fi to a smartphone or tablet, the Cubic is said by <em>Digitimes</em> <a href="" rel='nofollow'>to</a> offer a 13-megapixel ½.3-inch CMOS sensor, and a 3x optical zoom, inside a 52.5x45x26mm (2x1.8x1-inch) casing and weighing just 65g (2.3 ounces). The Cubic is on sale for NT$2,980 ($100), though it is unlikely to go on sale in the United States.
