Briefly: Moog's Theremini synthesizer, Samsung's 4K Netflix streaming
Electronic instrument maker Moog unveiled a prototype of its latest space-controlled synthesizer at this weekend's NAMM 2014 show, the Theremini. Theremins use two field-generating metal rods to control pitch vertically and volume horizontally, based on the proximity of the user's hands to each end. Combining the experience of performing with an instrument one does not physically touch with Moog's Animoog synthesizer, the Theremini offers assertive pitch control for all skill levels of players. Its pitch control feature allows the user to dial scale correction up or down, eliminating 'wrong notes' when turned up to its maximum.

The Theremini's built-in tuner supplies real-time visual feedback of each note as it is played, and its accuracy, which is useful for new and learning users. Its presets section offer a selection from 32 wave or wavetable-based patches, the ability to store a selected scale and root note, as well as set and recall a specified playing range and specify per-patch settings for its stereo delay. The Theremini has a compact speaker in the top of the device, and features an option for silent practice with the included headphone jack. The Theremini is set to be priced at $320, with its official availability yet to be announced.
