Rumor: Samsung Galaxy Gear sequel to have curved, flexible display
The successor to the <a href="http://macnn.com/rd/303143==http://www.macnn.com/reviews/samsungs-galaxy-gear-smartwatch.html" rel='nofollow'>Samsung Galaxy Gear</a> smart watch could be launched in March or April at a London event, according to a report. The smart watch is also said to have a <a href="http://macnn.com/rd/303144==http://www.electronista.com/articles/13/10/08/new.phone.only.available.in.south.korea.no.expecte d.us.availability/" rel='nofollow'>curved</a> or flexible OLED screen, instead of the original's 1.6-inch AMOLED version, along with a new updated design that could help Samsung gain more acceptance in the wearable devices market. <br />
<br />
The suggested timing of the launch <a href="http://macnn.com/rd/303137==http://www.zdnet.co.kr/news/news_view.asp?artice_id=20140127143402" rel='nofollow'>by</a> <em>ZDNet Korea's</em> source could lead to a joint launch alongside the <a href="http://macnn.com/rd/303138==http://www.electronista.com/articles/14/01/21/pre.mobile.world.congress.launch.speculated.for.ne w.samsung.flagship/" rel='nofollow'>Galaxy S 5</a>, that is if Samsung chooses not to launch the smartphone at Mobile World Congress next month. While little else is known about the Galaxy Gear 2 itself, its existence has been confirmed not only in an interview with Samsung's executive vice president of mobile business <a href="http://macnn.com/rd/303139==http://www.electronista.com/articles/14/01/09/eye.scanning.feature.on.galaxy.s5.response.to.appl e.iphone.5s/" rel='nofollow'>Lee Young</a>, but also in a secondary pre-CES <a href="http://macnn.com/rd/303140==http://www.electronista.com/articles/14/01/04/galaxy.band.other.wearable.be.in.the.offing/" rel='nofollow'>teaser image</a> on the Samsung UK Twitter feed. <br />

<br />
The original Galaxy Gear was not well received by consumers, with leaked internal documents from Best Buy suggesting a return rate for devices as high as <a href="http://macnn.com/rd/303141==http://www.electronista.com/articles/13/10/25/samsung.smartwatch.apparently.not.going.over.well/" rel='nofollow'>30 percent.</a> A later report in November from Samsung claimed sales of more than <a href="http://macnn.com/rd/303142==http://www.electronista.com/articles/13/11/19/separate.reports.suggest.lower.sales.shipment.figu res/" rel='nofollow'>800,000 units</a>, though it was thought this figure relates to overall shipments rather than devices in customer hands.
