Motorola announces Moto X one-day sale, new smartphone launch date
Motorola will be launching a new smartphone on May 13th, with an invitation hinting it will be a low-cost device. The event invitation comes at the same time as the smartphone producer warns of a one-day sale in the United States tomorrow, where the flagship Moto X will be available directly from Motorola at a reduced price for a 24-hour period.
The sale on May 1st will start at 12:01am EST, reports Droid-Life, with the 16GB model priced at $300 instead of $350, and the 32GB model dropped from $400 to $325. The developer edition of the device will also drop from $400 to $325, with the Motorola website suggesting it will also include Moto Maker customization within the price.
The invitations to media, spotted by Android Central, are for an event in London, and specifically state it is for a smartphone launch. The text advises the phone will be "Made to last. Priced for all," but offers few other clues as to what the device could be. Recent rumors suggest the device will be called the Moto E and will be a thinner version of its existing budget smartphone, the Moto G. Specifications for the phone place it as having a 4.3-inch 720p display, a dual-core 1.2GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, 4GB of storage, a rear 5-megapixel camera, and a 1,900mAh battery. It is speculated to ship for less than $250.
