Nokia job listings suggest return to iOS, Android for Here maps
Nokia could be preparing a new version of its <a href="http://macnn.com/rd/309120==http://www.electronista.com/articles/14/02/21/free.nokia.mapping.app.previously.exclusive.to.lum ia.2520.tablet/" rel='nofollow'>Here</a> mapping app for iOS and Android. Two job postings spotted on LinkedIn are searching for Android and iOS developers to work on the company's Here teams, and could signal a return to the platforms after the company sold its mobile phone business to Microsoft for approximately <a href="http://macnn.com/rd/309121==http://www.electronista.com/articles/14/04/25/nokias.lumia.asha.nokia.x.business.now.owned.by.mi crosoft/" rel='nofollow'>$7.2 billion</a>.<br />
<br />
The advertisements spotted <a href="http://macnn.com/rd/309116==http://www.nokiapoweruser.com/2014/05/04/job-postings-reveal-nokias-here-maps-ios-android-apps-suite-plans/" rel='nofollow'>by</a> <em>Nokia Power User</em> are for postings in Frankfurt, Schwalbach, and Berlin. <a href="http://macnn.com/rd/309117==https://www.linkedin.com/jobs2/view/13451894?trk=jobs_biz_pub" rel='nofollow'>One listing</a> asks specifically for an Android developer to work with the Community Mapping Product Team in the Here Core Platform Group to create an "entirely new type of community-driven mobile app targeting a global audience." The <a href="http://macnn.com/rd/309118==https://www.linkedin.com/jobs2/view/13532423?trk=jobs_search_public_seo_page" rel='nofollow'>second</a> is looking for an "Android / iOS developer" that is fluent in the "latest Java capabilities and improvements" on both platforms, though they will report to the Here Platform for Business teams. <br />

<br />
While a new mapping application could help Nokia in its post-acquisition state, the job listings could be interpreted to mean Nokia is looking to expand its mapping capabilities, creating an entire mapping suite with "advanced location-based services."<br />
<br />
Nokia had previously made its Here maps available on iOS, pulling it <a href="http://macnn.com/rd/309119==http://www.electronista.com/articles/13/12/27/claims.ios.7.harmed.user.experience.introduced.bug s.to.mapping.application/" rel='nofollow'>late last year</a> over changes in iOS 7. It was thought to have been developing an Android version, though it has yet to be released.
