Asus unveils Transformer Book V, T300 Chi, Flip convertible notebooks
Asus has expanded its collection of Transformer devices with a number of new convertible tablets running Windows, at its Computex presentation. The Transformer Book V heads up the launches as a five-mode, three-in-one converged notebook running both Windows and Android, accompanied by the Transformer Book T300 Chi, and the Transformer Book Flip notebook.

The Transformer Book V is a cross between the ill-fated Transformer Book Duet and the PadFone X, using a smartphone, a tablet dock, and a keyboard. The smartphone runs on Android 4.4 and is claimed to be the first 5-inch LTE smartphone powered by an Intel Atom quad-core processor. The smartphone can be plugged into the 12.5-inch tablet with an IPS HD display capable of switching between Android and Windows, with up to 128GB of storage and a 2,500mAh battery. Using the keyboard dock with touchpad, the Transformer Book V turns into a notebook with up to 1TB of storage and the choice of running Windows 8.1 or Android KitKat.

While it does not offer Android, the Transformer Book T300 Chi does still have a 12.5-inch 2560x1440 IPS display which Asus claims is the world's thinnest at 7.3mm, or 14.3mm including the keyboard. Using an Intel processor, the fanless device works as a tablet or as a notebook when attached to the keyboard dock.

The Transformer Book Flip is a notebook range fitted with a 360-degree hinge, allowing the keyboard to go behind the display and effectively turning it into a notebook. When the keyboard is held behind the display, an automatic keyboard and touchpad lock kicks in to avoid any extra unwanted key presses. Asus plans to offer three sizes of device, with 13.3-inch, 14-inch, and 15.6-inch displays, processors up to an Intel Core i7, and Nvidia GeForce GTX840M graphics options.

Asus did not reveal when the Transformer Book V nor the Transformer Book T300 Chi will go on sale, but did advise the Transformer Book Flip will be shipping from the end of this month. Pricing for all devices has yet to be disclosed.
