Startup stuff: like in OS 9?

Remember in OS 9 you could tell your computer to startup, shutdown or whatever in the energy control panel? Any way to do that in OS X.2.1? Or know of any shareware programs to do that?

(My comp starting up was my alarm clock, and songs would kick on in startup items.)
