I need to move images (large mb photo files) to an ftp site. the party on the other side sent me directions to use the "chooser" from the apple menu to access the ftp site.
How can I do this in osx or is there any equvalent or similar application to the chooser?
thanks

from the finder, go to the "go" menu option and select "connect to server..."

The Chooser used to do an odd mixture of tasks. Primarily remote file server and printer management. But also a variety of anything else developers or Apple decided to stick in it.

In OS X, each application is managed by a different Application, so to speak. Printing is in the Print Centre application. And File Sharing is in the Finder, as posted above.

Use the Finder's "Go" -> "Connect to Server" command (CMD-K).

From there you can choose an AppleTalk or SMB server from the list of local file servers, or choose a remote (or local) file server by entering a URL in the field. Eg,

ftp://ftp.host.domain.com

or

afp://appletalk.domain.com

or

smb://windows.server.domain.com/share/
