I read somewhere shortly after 10.0.0 that there was a way to trick the Finder into opening new windows in the same location and with the same size settings.

Does Jaguar do this, or is there now an entry in a preference file that determins this?

Hopefully the latter is true. It should be since the Finder seems to where to open certian windows and how big to make them, such as the window that opens when you connect to a network volume. It seems that this is a no brainer, but I can't seem to find any info, or the setting itslef.

Thanks,

Open a Finder window. Set it to the view option and size you want. Close it without navigating anywhere. All subsequent windows will open the same way. Still works like that in 10.2.

And if/when you reboot/logout you'll have to open a finder window, immediately close it without doing anything to it, and open another one. The 2nd one will have your settings, the first will be default.
