With 10.2.1 I tried to get sendmail going again so I would get the reports of the regular cron jobs. Following O'Reilly I just did
(0) chmod g-w / /Users
(1) MAILSERVER=-YES- in /etc/hostconfig
(2) sudo /System/Library/StartupItems/Sendmail/Sendmail restart
(3) Edit ~root/.forward so mail forwards to [email protected]
When I do (2) it sendmail seems to start up OK and sending email
works. If I reboot though sendmail doesn't start I get things like
Sep 25 15:54:14 mymac sendmail[360]: File descriptors missing on startup: st
din, stdout, stderr; Bad file descriptor
Sep 25 15:54:14 mymac sendmail[361]: starting daemon (8.12.2): queueing@01:0 0:00
in the log
Any thoughts ?
Thanks - Michael
