I'm looking at purchasing an Xserve for either a FileMaker server or a Lasso web server running Apache or WebSTAR V. What would be a better fit for the Xserve, FileMaker (with 120+ clients) or a web server? I have a Dual 1GHz Quicksilver PowerMac that would run the other process. I would appreciate any recommendations or experience with these applications.

Also, is there a GUI for Apache is the 10.2 Server software? I'm used to running WebSTAR and like the GUI. Is there a compelling reason to run Apache? Thanks for the help!

I'd say the X Server would be better for the file thing, if your only hosting one site.. then put it on the QS

Then again...

I don't know how extensive your database is, but Filemaker doesn't require much oomph. We run a pretty good sized database on an 8500. However we only have about 20 clients hitting it ( but they hit it all the time with many layouts open ).

Actually, I don't see why the Xserve couldn't handle both jobs.
