I'm looking to pick up a FireWire scanner. Is there anything out there that works with Jaguar? Does it require VueScan or can I use Image Capture?

Thanks,
D

Next to none really work. I have an UMAX Powerlook 1100 that works okay with VueScan but if you're in need of really high quality it just doesn't compare to the old UMAX scanner utility for 9. Supposedly they're making an X version. I've used a beta from a European site but it wasn't functional.

The only other scanners that work are from Epson - some in Classic, some in X through a beta TWAIN driver. The list is here: http://support.epson.com/webadvice/wa0301.html

I use the Epson 2450 firewire scanner with VueScan in 10.2.1 -- (I've been using it since 10.1) ... Highly recommended - I love both of them.

go here and do a search for firewire scanner

I think Epson's work with new twain driver. Like the Perfection 2450.

The Microtek 8700 (http://www.microtekusa.com/sm8700.html) is firewire and has OS X software/drivers. Its very expensive though.

go to versiontracker and do a search on "scanner".
you'll get a list of a bunch of drivers available for OS X. choose one of the models/manufacturers from the list. ;)

I have an Epson Perfection 2400 USB. I use OS 10.2.1. Works fine with the Epson beta twain driver. I bought it at Costco for $199. It is easy to find at $250. It has a transparency light in the lid for scanning slides and negatives.
