I can't for the life of me get rid of a Preference icon in the System Prefs. Previously all I've had to do is delete the appropriate file from the Library/PrefPanes and its gone but this one refuses to budge. It doesn't even work either so is just a dumb icon sitting down the bottom.

Any hints?

Ta Ry

To clear the icon from system prefs try deleting the file at
~/Library/Caches/com.apple.preferencepanes.cache

I chucked that file and the icon is gone.
Thanks for that.
Isn't it funny how the finder seems to go in circles, the OS X System Preferences seems so similar to the old System 6 Control panel. Whats a bet in OS XI we'll be back with the OS 7-9 Control panel and then OS XII will be back to this again. Anyways
Cheers Ry

exactly! it's only a matter of time until prefpanes are just a pop-up in the dock (I wish it could do that now.)
