Though my laptop is a powerbook, I run windows XP on my desktop. I recently installed a derivative of Redhat 9 on a vmware virtual machine. The resolution on the virtual redhat machine is set to 1280x1024, the same as my windows machine. When in 'quick-switch' mode, the virtual machine's display shows up as full screen and should fill the entire screen. For some reason, vmware puts scrollbars on the bottom and right of the screen, even though the only space they are scrolling over the is space THEY created, so they should not be there.
To try and solve this problem without sacrificing too much screen space, I want to try and run the resolution of 1275x1020. I put it in my XF86Config-4 file under ModeLine "1275x1020" etc and under "Screen" I put a display last that had depth 24 and res 1275x1020, but it did not get chosen on a restart of the X server or a reboot. How can I get this res? Do I have to edit the vmware vga driver? If so, where are drivers found?
