I often run X-Windows directly on top of Darwin, without using Aqua. However, there is no 2D video acceleration for my ATI card (RagePro) so dragging windows around takes up a lot of CPU.

Is there some way to turn on video acceleration? I think maybe this will be included in version 4.3 of xFree86 for Darwin?

You're right, XDarwin doesn't support hw acceleration at this time. I think Torrey said that they want to implement it at some point, but their main priority is getting a working, stable rootless implementation into 4.2. Also, I think Greg wants to get OpenGL working in hw accelerated mode for rootless using the Apple GL libraries.
