There have been plenty of regular OS X screenshot threads, but there really hasn't been a thread showing off X Window installs on OS X. I know lots of people who frequent the OS X-UNIX forum have XFree installs, so make with the screenshots!

Here's a recent one of mine, running in rootless mode:

That's weird. The eterm being transparent and then being able to see the D.P. but not that IM app.

You should also post what window manager you are using and what extras you have,

That's how the *nix terminals handle transparency: by mapping a picture of the desktop to the frame of the window, and updating it when you move the terminal window. You don't actually get true transparency. It's just simulated. That's why you can't see any windows behind Eterm.

WindowMaker, by the way, is the window manager running in rootless mode.

I would post my screenshot if I still had X installed, but anyways, is that really Netscape you got there? If so, did you compile it yourself?

Hmm, I clearly overestimated the level of interest an XonX screenshot thread would attract. Ah well.

Netscape running on Darwin:

Mysterious, non?

...

And now for the bursting of the bubble: Netscape is running on my FreeBSD box, and is appearing on my OS X machine courtesy of a very nice feature of ssh called X11 Forwarding. No magic code tweakings, I'm afraid.

Uhm, duh, read what his post actually said. Specifically this bit:
