Looking at the files in /Library/Receipts/ I was surprised to see Apple leaving so much behind after installation:

iTunes includes a small app which displays the license agreement.
All three 10.0.x updates contain a small app to display a warning about required disk space
10.0.2 and 3 contain a commandline GestaltTool app, for reading or testing gestalt settings, basic usage is:
/Library/Receipts/10.0.3Update.pkg/Contents/Resources/GestaltTool -s sysv
and they also contain another commandline app SetHidden, which makes file/folders invisible according to a supplied list, sample usage is:

sudo /Library/Receipts/10.0.3Update.pkg/Contents/Resources/SetHidden / /Library/Receipts/10.0.3Update.pkg/Contents/Resources/hidden_MacOS9

Oh and while on the subject of odd files that perhaps shouldn't be there:
less /System/Library/Frameworks/ApplicationServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/AE.framework/Versions/A/Resources/AppleEvents.txt
