App folder disappears from dock after restart

On my new iBook I drag the OS X application folder to the right side of the dock for quick access to apps/utilities, but when I restart it's gone.

I did this on my beige G3 (before I sold it), and it stayed even when I rebooted.

Does anyone know why it keeps disappearing?

It won't stay is the dock gets killed (instead of closed) because it doesn't get a chance to save the current layout in preferences. Try this; put it in there, log out, and log back in. If it's still there, it should stay for good.

Just would like to add I had that problem and I solved it doing exactally what sonicblue said above...

Deleating the dock prefs would do no harm if that fails....
