Nobody has reported the fact that Apple's announced "iTools" product is the same exact name as Tenon Intersystem's iTools 5.0 product for Mac OS X Server.

Talk about PRODUCT confusion.

Ouch!

I spoke with a Tenon rep about it. They are somewhat concerned, but they are confident it will be worked out somehow.

The good news is, they are somewhat different markets, and have different functionality. I suggested to the rep that the best situation would be one where Appple incorporates the use of Tenon's iTools in the iTools site. http://forums.macnn.com/cgi-bin/smile.gif

In the end, Apple stands to lose a lot more by changing the name than Tenon does. Technically savvy people (likely Tenon's core audiencce) don't really care what it's called. But Apple consumer customers are starting to get the iTools word in their head.

It's an unfortunate situation. We haven't really reported on it because we wanted to get more information about what the status really is -- that is, if Apple is aware of it.
