If you are tired of widgets hogging your low end Mac you can unload them by entering the following in Terminal:
killall Dock
Or, if you prefer to have this option handy as a contextual menu...

I am sorry to be slightly off-topic, but this discussion floated toward DVD-RAMs...
Can anybody recommend a drive to READ DVD-RAM discs?
I would like to it to work in OS 10.2. It does not...

I would rather buy slightly more expensive scanner with OS X software provided by the original manufacturer.
Since Epson supports lame...
